Here's what's new:

  • Fixed the IE 7 login bug
  • Fixed the zoom graph functionality. You can now see all 3 graphs together again
  • Last logged weight shows correctly. There was some funkiness with this sometimes showing your current weight.
  • Users now have their own comments highlighted on their profile.
  • The biggest one: Users can now delete their own accounts. Here's what happens when you delete your account:
    • Your profile is no longer visible
    • You will no longer receive messages or motivator reports
    • You will no longer show up in listings of users
    • You will no longer be able to log in
    • Your comments will still appear (but your photo won't)
    • Your forum postings will still appear (but your photo won't)
    • The forum topics you've created will still appear
Thanks everyone, and happy new year!

Happy New Year traineo users!

We would like to wish all traineo users and supporters a very Happy New Year!

Thank you all for being a part of traineo and we hope you continue to enjoy our service. Our team is looking forward to celebrating a New Year and then continuing to improve traineo to help make 2009 a very healthy one for all of you. We would never have this opportunity if we didn't have your continued support and involvement - Thank you!

What's new for traineo in 2009?

We plan to make 2009 a very busy year for the traineo team. Earlier this month we launched a new traineo platform which now gives us more scope to improve the overall traineo user experience. We're excited with the possibilities and moving forward our mission is to continue to provide increasing motivation and support so you can lead a healthier life by being a member of the traineo community. We'll soon be introducing a number of exciting new features based on your feedback so stay tuned to take advantage of them.

Tell us what you want!

One of the big focuses in 2009 will be for us to continue our open communications with the traineo community. I hope you've already seen this happening across the site and you should expect even more communication and transparency from us as we improve our service to you. We're committed to building features around direct user-feedback so please continue to voice your opinions regarding what you'd like to see from traineo.

Help us spread the word!

Now is the perfect time to tell your friends and family to use traineo to make a commitment for a healthy and fit 2009! Invite them now using our Tell Friends Page.

It is also the ideal time to make a new commitment to a healthier life by setting a new goal. Log in and update your information and goal targets. While you're at it, why not add a few additional motivators to increase your probability of success by building your personal support network?

Have a great New Year wherever you are celebrating!

Healthy wishes from myself and all of the traineo team,

Alasdair McLean-Foreman

We've done the following since the last update:

  • Put spam protection measures in place
  • Added extra navigation to forum topics so that the page links are easier to see
  • Restored motivators and motivatees
  • Changed the format of dates and times so they're a little more user-friendly
  • Fixed forum links so that when you click on a topic (thread) you go to the last page
  • Added pagination to comments on user profiles so that you don't have to wait for all the comments to load
  • Changed the calorie increment on the diet tool from 20 to 10
  • On the technical side, we added better indexes to our database so that the site will run faster

Within the last 24 hours a spammer under the user name "TraineoBot" used traineo to send ads for an herbal supplement to most of our users. We're deeply sorry for this intrusion and have disabled the user's account. We're also working quickly to prevent spammers from doing this again.

We know that the spammer caused a lot of you to get frustrated with the site and want to cancel. Currently, there is no easy way to delete your account - something else we're working on adding ASAP. In the mean time, if you want your account deleted, please email us at hello@traineo.com with your username and/or traineo email address.

Sorry, traineo members, for the spam you received. We're putting measures into place so that it will never happen again, by detecting spam before it reaches you and including a setting your profile to not get emailed traineo messages.

Thank You,
The traineo Team

Today we did the following:
  • Added the ability change the date range on your own weight, food, and activity graphs
  • Fixed the problem with weight graphs where the y-axis label would show one unit, but the data in the graph would use another unit
More to come tomorrow!

Hello traineo members,

Today was a pretty big day, with the new traineo going live. Already we're getting a lot of feedback in the forums. A couple of users have mentioned problems they've encountered with the site update, and I'd like to encourage you all to continue letting us know of any issues you run into. We're working hard to continue improving the site, and pointing out bugs helps us to address them more quickly. I also want to thank Rachel M in particular for providing us with such exhaustive feedback during the beta testing period and after the launch.

Here's what we've done today:
  • When you update your profile image, the new image now shows in forum posts
  • Weight graphs are no longer showing "data error" messages
  • Group forums are now accurately showing the most recent post
  • The feedback form no longer displays an error after it's submitted (that one wins the irony prize for the day)
There's more in store for tomorrow, and I'll let you know what's been done at the end of the day.

Greetings, traineo members!

Hello, traineo members! I'm the new lead developer here at traineo (since November 5), and now that the new traineo is launched you're going to be seeing me on the site and on this blog :)

Alasdair, myself, and the rest of the team are committed to both listening to your feedback and updating the site quickly and regularly. We'd love to get your your input in the forums, on this blog, and over email. In general, we'll be posting requests for feedback on the forum and updates to the site on the blog (by the way - expect an update post tonight).

From time to time I'll also be blogging about topics relating to motivation, reaching goals, and achieving balance. I'm by no means an expert on these topics, but like many of you I've spent serious time considering them in order to figure out how to lead a better life.

I'm super-stoked about the plans we have for traineo over the coming weeks and months. But more than that, I'm enjoying working on and being part of such a great community. It's an awesome thing to see folks helping each other become healthier and happier. Thanks for making traineo a great site!

What's changed on the new traineo?

I hope you're all having a great holiday season!

Thank you to all of you that have been working with us to test the new traineo platform and those who continue to support the traineo ideal and community.

The traineo team is excited to be soon launching a new and improved service for you! I wanted to share some of our ideas behind the improvements and also let you know what to expect in the future.

Service Speed and Reliability
traineo will soon be running on an entirely new software platform that will dramatically improve the performance of the website. What's more, we've built everything using a new software platform that will allow us to add new features quickly and efficiently; so if you don't see all of the bells and whistles that you've been asking for please be patient, they’re right around the corner!

Enhanced Graphing
A very important part of the traineo service is giving you the ability to visualize your progress using a simple chart. We're working on continuing to improve the graphs and in the new release you'll see a more powerful charting tool with better zoom, scroll, and display features.

Improved Navigation
Our goal is to make a simple website to help you reach your health and fitness goals. A very important part of our enhancements has been a simplified navigation structure. In the new site you'll find a new navigation menu that will help you get around the features and tools of the faster and more intuitively.

Design Improvements for Entering Data
The traineo team has been working hard to make a number of design changes as part of the upgrade and you'll notice improvements across all of the tools. We're going to continue to make improvements based on your feedback so please let us know what you think should be tweaked or updated.

What does this mean?
We hope that this new traineo platform & design will help you further in reaching your health & fitness goals. This is just a small step in many more services that we hope to offer you in the future so please stay tuned!

Our team is committed to constantly improving this new version of traineo and we are confident that the new platform will allow us to build tools & services to satisfy your needs. We're working extremely hard on this and there are still a lot of items on our ongoing list of enhancements. We will be listening avidly to your development suggestions so I'd like to encourage as many of you to get in touch after you've had some time to familiarize yourself to the new service. Please discuss what you would like to see via the forums,
feedback form, and also the traineo Feedback link on the new navigation bar.

Our team will be in touch via the blog and in the forums and we're looking forward to working on making traineo a better service for our community.

Also, always feel free to get in touch with us by emailing hello@traineo.com

Healthy Regards,
